We want to encourage all of our members and supporters to attend the second annual State of the Outdoors event on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the Colorado Springs City Auditorium, 221 E. Kiowa Street, presented by the Pikes Peak Outdoor Recreation Alliance and the Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC. Doors open at 3:00 pm and the program begins at 4:30 pm. Colorado Springs Forward is a significant sponsor of this event.
This year’s State of the Outdoors will feature a forum where Colorado gubernatorial candidates will have an opportunity to share their perspectives on outdoor recreation opportunities and challenges. The forum will cover several outdoor recreation issues including economic impact, influence on health and well-being, public lands access, stewardship and others.
Confirmed candidates attending include:
- Stephen Barlock, Republican
- Noel Ginsburg, Democrat
- Bill Hammons, Unity Party
- Greg Lopez, Republican
- Donna Lynne, Lt. Governor, Democrat
- Michael Schroeder, Democrat
- Erik Underwood, Democrat
Colorado Springs Business Journal Editor Bryan Grossman will moderate the gubernatorial forum, with questions framed and posed by community and industry leaders. There will be opportunity to visit with candidates before and following the forum.
The event also celebrates the region’s outdoor businesses, nonprofits, and land management entities through the Outdoor Community Expo, where attendees can connect with outdoor community leaders, peers and volunteers.
During the event, the Outdoor Industry Association’s economic numbers for the 5th congressional district will be released!
