New Partnership with Dr. Pamela Shockley-Zalabak

Dear CSF Supporters,

As many of you who follow our organization know, we are deliberately taking a measured approach to replacing the position of executive director. Amy Lathen resigned at the end of May and our board has continued to meet to discuss the future leadership and direction for the organization. While we are without an ED, we have remained active in supporting local organizations and will be appropriately engaged in various community efforts, including the upcoming November elections.

As part of this process, we are excited to announce an engagement with Dr. Pamela Shockley-Zalabak to conduct some community outreach on behalf of Colorado Springs Forward.

Most of you know Dr. Shockley-Zalabak from her days as the Chancellor of UCCS, but many probably do not know of her extensive professional experience running her own consulting company specializing in organizational design, development and communication. Her company, CCI, has an extensive client list including Fortune 500 companies like Hewlett Packard, Georgia-Pacific and Bristol-Myers Squibb.

The first phase of the engagement will run for the next 6-8 weeks, after which, and in consultation with other community organizations, we will define the scope of an expanded effort around 1-2 key community priorities that Pam will lead.

Rest assured, this is not “another study” to identify “wishes” for Colorado Springs, but a focused approach to accelerate and complete existing work on key community priorities. For those of you who know Dr. Shockley, you know she is about outcomes!

For CSF, this effort led by Pam will help inform the type of leader we need as we move from a primary focus on the political climate in the region to a broader-based organization eager to lead and come alongside other groups doing important work in the community.

Thank you for your continued interest in making this the ultimate city in which to live, work and play.

– Phil Lane
Chairman of the Board
